Cip Festival opens its gates on Monday July 22nd, 2024

The events of the festival will be held at Grand Arsenali
and at the Center of the Mediterranean Architecture (CAM)

Photo Marathon 2023 – Grand Arsenal
Participation is free of charge and those interested can register by sending an email at info@cipfestival.com

The Cip Festival Marathon will take place as part of the 6th Chania International Photo Festival. Participants, Greeks and foreigners, will show how they see Chania through three photographic subjects, presenting their own perception of the city

Marathon Information:

The marathon will last for four days starting on Friday August 4, at 19:00.
All participants will receive their membership card and all the necessary information from Grand Arsenal (KAM) on the first day. Everyone should have their digital camera with them.
The end of the Marathon will be on Monday August 7 at 12 noon.
The participants should send 3 photos they have selected via email. The photos gathered will be evaluated by the committee in order for the winners of the Marathon to be selected. There will be three prizes and three honorable mentions

 

Friday 4 August, 2023

Workshop (Night Photography) – Mikis Theodorakis Theatre
Time: 20:00
Participation is free of charge and those interested can register by sending an email at info@cipfestival.com

Mr Alexander Voutsas,
faculty member, Athens School of Fine Arts, photography, will talk about night photography and then there will be a workshop on it. Night shooting will follow from dusk and into the night.
Please have in mind to have with you:
1. A tripod
2. A flashlight
3. String and/or thin rope
4. Use of dark/black clothing
5. A sand bag or a 3-5 kg. bag to use for tripod steadiness.
6. A hand held light meter if you have/own one.

Presentation of Vivian Maiers’ work – Mikis Theodorakis Theatre

Mr Nikos Apostolopoulos
Assistant Professor at the University of West Attica, Department of Photography and Visual Arts, will present Vivian Maiers’ work.

 

Saturday 5 August

Workshop (Nature Photography) – Mikis Theodorakis Theatre
Time: 21:30
For the photographers who will participate in the nature photography outing that will take place on Sunday 6 August

Mr Alexander Voutsas,
faculty member, Athens School of Fine Arts, photography, will give a talk on nature photography and the equipment photographers need when they are shooting outdoors. It will be a particularly useful workshop for the photographers who plan to follow the excursion on Sunday.

 

Sunday 6 August

Workshop (Nature Photography)
Time: 9:00 – 13:00
Participation is free of charge and those interested can register by sending an email at info@cipfestival.com

Mr Alexander Voutsas,
faculty member, Athens School of Fine Arts, photography, will escort a group of photographers to a nature photography excursion. Participants will meet in the morning and will be taken by bus to an old monastery. From there they will follow a path that leads to a cave called Arkoudospilios with a crouching bear-like stalagmite. The second stop of this nature shooting will be at Agia Triada Monastery, where they will visit the oil mill and the winery and the cellars of the Monastery. There they will also wander around and take photographs of the landscape. The bus will take participants from the monastery and return them to Chania at around 13:00.
Please have in mind to have light gear with you.

Apart from your camera, you will need:
1. Comfortable shoes
2. Hat
3. Sunscreen
4. Water

 

Monday 7 August

Workshop (Night Photography – Nature Photography) – Mikis Theodorakis Theatre
Time: 20:00 – 22:00

Mr Alexander Voutsas,
will comment on the night and the nature photographs which were taken during the two workshops he held on August 4th and 6th and there will be a discussion on them

 

Wednesday 9 August

Photo Marathon Results – Grand Arsenal
The winners will be announced and the prizes will be awarded
